Police

Welcome to the official website of the Salina City Police Department.  We hope this will be a useful resource as we have provided information concerning ID theft and how to avoid becoming a victim, we have AMBER ALERT information which is updated daily, we have a list of current warrants out of the Salina Justice Court, and there is a link to the sex offender registry as well as other law enforcement related links.  There are also email addresses provided in case you wish to contact us.

Our police department consists of six sworn with two part-time personnel in the records division.  Being a small town rural department, each officer has the opportunity to work all aspects of police work including traffic, drugs, investigations, animal control, sex crimes, city zoning, taking calls for service, and any and all other problems that might be brought to the police department’s attention.  We also have one officer that is dedicated to our school resource and DARE programs.

To the casual traveler passing through town, Salina might appear to be a quiet, sleepy little place; however, with Interstate 70, US Hwy 50, and two state highways that all intersect in Salina, we get more than our share of enforcement opportunities.  And on days when things appear quiet, we have enough local miscreants that the resourceful and self-motivated officer can still find something productive to do.

We are fortunate to have the opportunity to live and work in a small-town atmosphere with rural attitudes; however, we still have the responsibility to enforce the law and protect the rights of all citizens.  Our objective is to provide public safety through professional police services with the goal of someday becoming an accredited department.
