The Salina Lions Club was chartered by Lions Clubs International in March of 1924, as the name indicates, has members worldwide.  The motto of Lions Cubs is:  “TO SERVE.
The Salina Lions Club has been working in the community with projects at the Salina City Park, North Sevier High School, North Sevier Middle School, cemetery registries, and the “Welcome Signs” at the entrances to the city.  Projects which are ongoing are distributing dictionaries to third-grade students at the Salina Elementary School, copies of the Constitutions to eighth-grade students at the North Sevier Middle School, the Peace Poster contest at the North Sevier Middle School, and awarding a scholarship to a deserving senior at North Sevier High School.
On the international level, the Salina Lions Club collects discarded eyeglasses which are refurbished and sent all over the world to people in need.  Annual donations are also made to the Moran Eye Center and the Leader Dog Foundation.
Members of the Salina Lions Club are now on the Salina Veterans Memorial Park committee and working to collect funds for the ongoing construction of this worthwhile project.
Membership in the Salina Lions Club can be under different categories:

Regular Member:  This member attends meetings regularly and participates in the projects and activities of the Club, pays membership dues to Lions Clubs International, District 28T, and the local club.

Affiliate Member:  This is a member of the community who is interested in the work of the Lions Club, but cannot regularly attend meetings.  This member helps with the projects when able and pays the same dues as the regular member.
Member-at-Large: A member who has moved from the community, or because of health or other legitimate reasons, is unable regularly to attend club meetings and desires to retain membership in this club.

Family Membership:  A Head of Household can register as a regular member and up to four persons living in the same household can register as family members. The Head of Household pays regular dues to Lions Clubs International and District.  Those listed as family members pay one-half of the Lions Clubs International dues, but full District dues.  Members participate in the project and activities of the Club.

Veterans Program:  Qualifying veterans include retired U.S. military personnel or those honorably discharged from the military.  Veterans can be certified by completing the Involve A U.S. Veterans Program Certification Form.

Membership in the Salina Lions Club is open to persons 18 years of age or older.  An application is filled out and presented to the Club Board of Directors for a vote.  Upon approval, the candidate is officially sworn in at the next Board of Directors meeting.  A membership application can be obtained from the contact person listed above.

A club geared to students ages 11 to 17 is also available through the Salina Lions Club.  The name of this club is Salina Leos Club. Information about this organization can be obtained through the Salina Lions Club.
