The First Annual Coal Days Celebration was a great success. There were games, contests, food, exhibits, truck show, entertainment and a free concert. Even the weather cooperated with the events of the day. All park events started at 11:00. At 5:00 there was a truck parade up Main Street where Virginia Dickert and Ken May were the honorary guests. After the parade, there was a concert at the park given by storyteller Clive Romney and his band Willingly.
There were many comments by attendees about what a wonderful day it was and asked if it will be an annual event? Officials at the Coal Mine and the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce are already planning on it. They have many new ideas and look forward to any suggestions. Overall it was a great day!
